# Lewis Carroll

## Biography

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, better known by his pen name Lewis Carroll, was born on January 27, 1832, in Daresbury, Cheshire, England. He was a multifaceted individual, serving as a respected mathematician and lecturer at Christ Church, Oxford, for many years. Despite his academic career, Carroll developed a profound passion for storytelling, particularly for children. He is most celebrated as the author of the iconic fantasy novels "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" (1865) and its sequel, "Through the Looking-Glass" (1871), which showcased his unique blend of logic, wordplay, and imaginative nonsense. Beyond his literary pursuits, Carroll was also a keen photographer, often capturing portraits of children. He held a deep interest in logic puzzles and games, elements that frequently permeated his creative works. Known for being shy around adults but animated and lively with children, Carroll charmed many with his elaborate tales. He passed away on January 14, 1898, in Guildford, Surrey, leaving behind a timeless legacy in children's literature.
