## Biography

Lillian Elizabeth Roy (1868-1932) was an American author primarily known for her prolific output of adventure stories for girls. Born in Morristown, New Jersey, in 1868, she was the youngest child of German immigrants. Roy pursued studies in architecture and interior design early in her life. Her literary career blossomed after the death of her husband in 1901. She gained widespread recognition for popular series such as the Polly Brewster books, which captivated young readers with tales of exploration and discovery. Beyond her girls' series, Roy also ventured into speculative fiction with "The Prince of Atlantis" in 1929. In addition to her numerous books, she was involved in children's periodicals, launching and editing magazines like Loveland Magazine and later Children's Blue Bird Magazine. Lillian Elizabeth Roy passed away in 1932, leaving behind a significant body of work that entertained generations of young readers.
