# A. Milne

## Biography

Alan Alexander Milne was an acclaimed English author, celebrated primarily for his beloved Winnie-the-Pooh books and children's poetry. Born in London on January 18, 1882, Milne attended Westminster School and later Trinity College, Cambridge, where he studied mathematics. His early career saw him contributing to and serving as assistant editor for the humor magazine *Punch*.

Milne’s literary pursuits were interrupted by his service in World War I, where he was an officer in the British Army. After the war, he established himself as a successful playwright and novelist, authoring works like the popular mystery *The Red House Mystery*. However, it was his son, Christopher Robin Milne, who inspired his most enduring creations: the whimsical tales of Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet, and their friends in the Hundred Acre Wood. These stories, along with collections of children's verse, brought him international fame. A. A. Milne passed away on January 31, 1956, leaving behind a cherished literary legacy.
