## Biography

Marie, Queen of Romania, born Princess Marie of Edinburgh in 1875, was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria and a prolific author. Throughout her life, she published numerous works, including 34 books and short stories. Her literary output spanned fairy tales, children's stories, essays, and memoirs, often written originally in English. Notable works include "The Lily of Life," "The Dreamer of Dreams," and "My Country," which sometimes served to promote Romania's interests or aid in wartime efforts. Her autobiography, "The Story of My Life," published in 1934, offered a personal account of her experiences. Queen Marie was a unique voice among royals, praised for her genuine writing ability and her capacity to connect with a broader audience through her narratives, which showcased both her imaginative spirit and her deep connection to her adopted homeland. She passed away in 1938.
