# Boyd Ellanby

## Biography

Boyd Ellanby was the joint pseudonym used by American writers Lyle Gifford Boyd (1907-1982) and her husband, William Clouser Boyd (1903-1983). William C. Boyd was a distinguished professor of immunochemistry at Boston University. Together, under their shared pen name, they contributed fourteen science fiction stories to various contemporary magazines between 1952 and 1958, alongside a few essays.

Their works often explored imaginative concepts, with stories like "Category Phoenix" and "The Star Lord" being among their notable publications. "The Star Lord" notably re-envisioned the tragic maiden voyage of the Titanic within a science fiction context. On one occasion, their byline appeared as Boyd Ellanbee. Beyond their collaborative fiction, both authors also published nonfiction individually. William C. Boyd co-authored "Races and People" with Isaac Asimov, while Lyle G. Boyd co-wrote "The World of Flying Saucers" with Donald H. Menzel.
