## Biography

Christopher Anvil was the pen name of American science fiction author Harry Christopher Crosby, born on March 11, 1925. He launched his writing career in 1952 with "Cinderella, Inc." before adopting his well-known pseudonym by 1956, becoming a frequent contributor to *Astounding Magazine*, later *Analog*. Anvil became renowned for his engaging science fiction short stories, often characterized by a humorous tone and plots where human ingenuity and perseverance led to victory against technologically superior alien adversaries. His work frequently explored themes of gadgetry, internal and external subterfuge within governmental organizations, and the logical progression of invented technologies or societal trends. Throughout his prolific career, which also included novels like *The Day the Machines Stopped* and the *Interstellar Patrol* series, Anvil consistently delivered tales that delighted readers with their clever problem-solving and spirited protagonists. He passed away on November 30, 2009.
