# William Ukers

## Biography

William H. (William Harrison) Ukers (1873–1945) was a prominent American journalist and author celebrated for his exhaustive research and writing on coffee and tea. His career in journalism commenced in 1893, initially contributing to various newspapers before specializing in trade publications. In 1902, Ukers took on the role of editor for *The Spice Mill* magazine. Driven by a keen understanding of the burgeoning beverage industry, he departed in 1904 to establish and edit *The Tea and Coffee Trade Journal*, a publication to which he devoted his professional life. Ukers's most significant contributions include "All About Coffee," a monumental work published in 1922, followed by the equally comprehensive "All About Tea" in 1935. He also penned other notable books such as "The Romance of Tea" and "Coffee Merchandising." His meticulous documentation and deep engagement with the global coffee and tea trades solidified his legacy as an authority in these fields.
