# Francis Bacon

## Biography

Francis Bacon was an influential English lawyer, statesman, and philosopher born in London in 1561. Educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, he quickly developed a critical view of traditional scholastic methods. Bacon rose through the political ranks, becoming a Member of Parliament, Attorney General, and eventually Lord Chancellor under King James I. His political career ended abruptly in 1621 due to accusations of corruption.

Beyond his political life, Bacon is renowned for his profound contributions to philosophy and the development of the scientific method. He championed empiricism, advocating for systematic observation and inductive reasoning as the foundation for acquiring knowledge, a significant departure from deductive logic.
