## Biography

Martha Evans Martin was an American writer, known for her contributions to astronomy literature for general audiences. Born in 1861, she gained particular recognition for her popular book, "The Friendly Stars," first published in 1907. This work, along with "The Ways of the Planets" from 1912, aimed to make celestial observations accessible and engaging for readers. Her writing helped to popularize the study of the night sky. She passed away in 1925, and her sister, Elizabeth J. Evans, published a memorial in her honor the following year. Martin's works are now in the public domain.
