## Biography

Donald Alexander Mackenzie was a prominent Scottish journalist, folklorist, and prolific author known for his extensive writings on religion, mythology, and anthropology during the early 20th century. Born in Cromarty, Scotland, on July 24, 1873, Mackenzie embarked on a career that saw him work as a journalist in Glasgow and later as the owner and editor of The North Star in Dingwall. He also contributed to The People's Journal in Dundee and represented The Bulletin in Edinburgh. Beyond his journalistic endeavors, Mackenzie was a respected lecturer and broadcaster, sharing his knowledge, particularly on Celtic mythology. He authored numerous books exploring myths and legends from various cultures, including *Ancient Man in Britain*, *Myths of Babylonia and Assyria*, and *Egyptian Myth and Legend*. Mackenzie passed away in Edinburgh on March 2, 1936, leaving behind a significant body of work that continues to be studied by enthusiasts of folklore and mythology.
