# R. Miller

## Biography

Richard DeWitt Miller (1910-1958) was an American author and researcher known for his contributions to science fiction, fantasy, and Forteana, the study of unexplained phenomena. Born in Los Angeles, California, Miller developed an early fascination with inexplicable events, meticulously collecting case histories throughout his life. He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1933 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Miller's writing career began in 1936 with the science fiction short story "The Shapes." He went on to publish several other science fiction works, including "The Master Shall Not Die!" which was later expanded into the novel The Man Who Lived Forever. His fantasy novel, The Loose Board in the Floor, appeared in 1951. Beyond fiction, Miller was a recognized authority on the supernormal, authoring non-fiction books such as Stranger Than Life and Reincarnation: The Whole Startling Story, and contributing columns on forgotten mysteries to Coronet magazine. He often collaborated with his wife, Ellora Fogle Miller, and was a member of the Fortean Society. Miller died at the age of 48.
