# Frank Robinson

## Biography

Frank M. Robinson was an acclaimed American science fiction and techno-thriller writer, editor, and journalist, born in Chicago in 1926. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War, he pursued studies in physics at Beloit College and earned a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Robinson's diverse career included working for magazines such as Science Digest, Rogue, Cavalier, and Playboy. A prolific author, he wrote numerous books, including "The Power" and "The Dark Beyond the Stars," the latter earning a Lambda Literary Award. He co-authored "The Glass Inferno," which was famously adapted into the film "The Towering Inferno." Beyond his literary achievements, Robinson was a prominent advocate for the LGBT community, editing Chicago's first gay tabloid newspaper and serving as a speechwriter for Harvey Milk. He passed away in San Francisco in 2014.
