# Winston Marks

## Biography

Winston K. Marks, born Winston Kinney Marks on October 7, 1915, in Spooner, Wisconsin, was an American author primarily known for his contributions to science fiction short stories. He occasionally wrote under the pseudonyms Win Marks, Win Kinney, and Ken Winney. Marks began his publishing career with "Mad Hatter" in Unknown in May 1940, followed by "Manic Perverse" in Astounding in October 1941. After a hiatus, he returned to publishing in 1953 with "The Water Eater" in Galaxy, subsequently becoming prolific throughout the 1950s, producing nearly sixty stories by 1959. His writing style was characterized by a mildly hard-bitten and amusing tone, with many of his stories being anthologized. A posthumous collection, "The Test Colony" and Other Stories, was released in 2012. Winston K. Marks passed away on December 14, 1978.
