# E. Knight

## Biography

Edward Frederick Knight (1852-1925) was an English barrister, soldier, journalist, and author, recognized for his extensive body of twenty books. Many of his works originated from his insightful dispatches as a war correspondent. Knight was born in England and spent his early childhood in British India. He was educated at Westminster School and Caius College, Cambridge, where he pursued legal studies and was called to the Bar in 1879. However, he soon transitioned from law to a distinguished career in journalism, writing predominantly for the Morning Post and The Times. His adventurous spirit led him to various global assignments, including covering the Franco-Prussian War and exploring Albania and Montenegro. Knight also embarked on voyages in his yachts, the Falcon and the Alerte, which inspired several of his popular travel narratives and adventure tales. His book "Sailing" notably influenced children's author Arthur Ransome.
