# Jim Harmon

## Biography

Jim Harmon, born James Judson Harmon in Mount Carmel, Illinois, on April 21, 1933, was a prolific American author and popular culture historian. He gained recognition for his extensive writings on the Golden Age of Radio and for his science fiction short stories. Writing under his own name and occasionally the pseudonym Judson Grey, Harmon was sometimes affectionately known as "Mr. Nostalgia." His career in fiction saw him publish over fifty short stories and novelettes in prominent science fiction magazines throughout the 1950s and 1960s, including Amazing Stories and Galaxy Science Fiction. Beyond fiction, Harmon authored numerous non-fiction books exploring various facets of popular culture, such as The Great Radio Heroes, The Great Radio Comedians, and The Great Movie Serials. He also served as the West Coast editor for Marvel Comics' Monsters of the Movies. Jim Harmon passed away on February 16, 2010, in Burbank, California, leaving behind a significant body of work chronicling an important era of American entertainment.
