## Biography

Sigmund Freud was an Austrian neurologist, born in Freiberg, Moravia, in 1856. He later moved to Vienna with his family where he spent most of his life. Freud pursued a medical degree at the University of Vienna, graduating in 1881, and specialized in neuropathology. Initially working in clinical practice, he gradually shifted his focus to psychological phenomena.

Freud is renowned as the founder of psychoanalysis, a revolutionary clinical method for understanding and treating mental health conditions. His groundbreaking theories explored the unconscious mind, the interpretation of dreams, and the role of sexuality in human development, profoundly influencing the fields of psychology, psychiatry, and Western thought. Concepts such as the Oedipus complex, ego, superego, and id are central to his work. Despite facing criticism, his ideas reshaped the understanding of human behavior and motivation. Freud continued to develop and refine his theories until his death in London in 1939.
