Robert Silverberg, born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 15, 1935, is a highly esteemed and prolific American science fiction author and editor. A voracious reader from childhood, he began writing stories in his early teens and graduated from Columbia University with a degree in English Literature in 1956. Silverberg quickly established himself as a prominent voice in science fiction, producing an astonishing volume of work under various names during the late 1950s.

After a brief period diversifying into other genres when the science fiction market shifted, Silverberg returned to the field in the mid-1960s with a more mature and literary style, contributing significantly to the genre's evolution. His distinguished career includes multiple wins for both the Hugo and Nebula Awards. He was inducted into the Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame in 1999 and named a Grand Master by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America in 2004. Silverberg, known for acclaimed works like *Dying Inside* and the Majipoor series, continues to be a significant figure in speculative fiction.
