## Biography

William John Warner, better known by his pseudonym Cheiro, was an Irish astrologer, palmist, and occult figure of the early 20th century. Born in a village near Dublin on November 1, 1866, he adopted the name Cheiro, derived from "cheiromancy" meaning palmistry, and sometimes used the title Count Louis Hamon. He cultivated a reputation as a clairvoyant who taught and practiced palmistry, astrology, and Chaldean numerology. Cheiro gained international renown for making personal predictions for a celebrity clientele, including Mark Twain and Oscar Wilde, and for foreseeing world events. He authored several popular books on fortune-telling, many of which remain in print. After a career that saw him advising royalty and prominent figures across Europe and America, Cheiro spent his later years in Hollywood, continuing his work until his death on October 8, 1936.
