## Biography

Aiden Wilson Tozer, born in rural Pennsylvania in 1897, became a highly influential American pastor, preacher, and writer despite having no formal theological education. His family moved to Akron, Ohio, where at age seventeen, Tozer experienced a profound religious conversion after hearing a street preacher. This sparked a lifelong pursuit of God, characterized by intense personal study and prayer.

Tozer began his ministry in 1919 with the Christian and Missionary Alliance. He pastored Southside Alliance Church in Chicago for thirty-one years, from 1928 to 1959, before serving in Toronto until his death in 1963. He was also editor of The Alliance Weekly, gaining a wider platform for his messages. Known for his keen spiritual insight and challenging writing, Tozer authored numerous devotional books, with "The Pursuit of God" and "The Knowledge of the Holy" being among his most renowned works. He was often called a twentieth-century prophet, urging Christians toward deeper consecration and a more intimate knowledge of God.
