# C. Kornbluth

## Biography

Cyril M. Kornbluth, born in New York City in 1923, was a prodigious talent in the science fiction genre. As a teenager, he became an active member of the Futurian Society, a renowned group of science fiction enthusiasts and aspiring writers. He began publishing stories at seventeen, contributing extensively to various magazines under numerous pseudonyms. During World War II, Kornbluth served in the US Army, earning a Bronze Star for his actions in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he attended the University of Chicago before returning to full-time writing. Kornbluth was celebrated for his sharp wit and satirical edge, often critiquing societal trends and corporate power. He frequently collaborated with Frederik Pohl, most notably on the groundbreaking novel The Space Merchants, a seminal work of dystopian satire. He also co-authored books with Judith Merril. Kornbluth's innovative short stories, such as "The Little Black Bag" and "The Marching Morons," cemented his reputation for insightful social commentary and dark visions of the future. Tragically, he died prematurely in 1958 at the age of thirty-four, leaving behind a significant and influential body of work that continues to resonate with readers.
