## Biography

Floyd L. Wallace, often recognized by his pen name F. L. Wallace, was an American author celebrated for his works in science fiction and mystery. Born in Rock Island, Illinois, in 1915, he later moved to California, where he spent most of his life. Wallace balanced a career as a mechanical engineer with his passion for writing, having attended both the University of Iowa and UCLA.

His literary journey began with the story "Hideaway," published in Astounding magazine. Throughout the 1950s, he became a notable presence in science fiction, contributing frequently to magazines such as Galaxy Science Fiction with stories like "Delay in Transit," "Bolden's Pets," and "Student Body," which were often praised for their style and emotional depth. Beyond science fiction, Wallace also delved into mystery writing, earning recognition for "Driving Lesson" in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine. His lone novel, "Address: Centauri," was released in 1955. F. L. Wallace passed away in Tustin, California, in 2004.
