# E. Forster

## Biography

Edward Morgan Forster was born in London on January 1, 1879. Raised by his mother and paternal aunts after his father's early death, an inheritance later afforded him the financial freedom to pursue his literary ambitions. He attended King's College, Cambridge, where he cultivated a humanist outlook and connected with future members of the Bloomsbury Group. Forster's extensive travels, especially to Italy and India, deeply influenced his writing. He became celebrated for novels that critiqued societal conventions and explored themes of class, human connection, and cultural clashes. His notable works include "A Room with a View," "Howards End," and his most acclaimed novel, "A Passage to India." A lifelong advocate for freedom of expression and liberal values, Forster's posthumously published novel, "Maurice," also addressed themes of homosexuality. He passed away on June 7, 1970, leaving behind a profound legacy in English literature.
