## Biography

William Wordsworth was a pivotal figure in English Romanticism, born on April 7, 1770, in Cockermouth, Cumberland, within England's scenic Lake District. His early life was marked by the loss of his parents, fostering a profound connection with nature that became a central theme in his verse. He attended St. John's College, Cambridge, and his travels in Revolutionary France deeply influenced his philosophical and political views.

In 1798, alongside Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Wordsworth co-authored *Lyrical Ballads*, a groundbreaking collection that launched the Romantic Age in English literature by emphasizing ordinary language and the experiences of common people. His expansive autobiographical poem, *The Prelude*, published posthumously, chronicled the growth of his poetic mind. Wordsworth’s work consistently explored themes of nature, memory, and the human spirit's interaction with the external world. He married Mary Hutchinson in 1802 and was appointed Poet Laureate in 1843, holding the title until his death on April 23, 1850.
