# Edward Ludwig

## Biography

Edward W. Ludwig was an American editor and author primarily known for his contributions to science fiction. Born in Tracy, California, on July 10, 1920, he began his publishing career in October 1950 with the story "Inheritance" in *Imagination* magazine. Over his career, Ludwig produced around twenty magazine stories, which often featured adventurous science fiction themes. Many of these shorter works were later gathered in his 1983 collection, *The 7 Shapes of Solomon Bean and 14 Other Marvelous Stories of Science Fiction and Fantasy*. He also penned the novel *The Mask of Jon Culon*, published in 1970, which explored themes of dystopia and repressive religion, awakening its protagonist from suspended animation into a bleak future. Edward W. Ludwig passed away in May 1990, leaving behind a legacy of imaginative genre fiction.
