## Biography

Kurt Vonnegut was an influential American writer, born in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1922. His experiences in World War II profoundly shaped his distinctive literary voice. As a prisoner of war, he survived the firebombing of Dresden, an event that became a central theme in his seminal novel, *Slaughterhouse-Five*. After the war, he studied at Cornell and the University of Chicago, working briefly as a reporter and in public relations before dedicating himself to fiction.
