## Biography

Henry James was a prominent American-British author, born in New York City in 1843. Raised in an intellectually rich family, including his philosopher father Henry James Sr. and philosopher-psychologist brother William James, he developed an early passion for literature. His extensive travels throughout Europe during his youth deeply influenced his writing, often exploring the nuanced clash between American and European cultures, alongside themes of identity and social dynamics. Though he briefly attended Harvard Law, James soon dedicated himself to writing, beginning his career as a journalist and critic. He later became renowned for his intricate novels and short stories, which demonstrated keen psychological insight and detailed character development. Notable works include "The Portrait of a Lady," "The Turn of the Screw," and "The Wings of the Dove."
