Ralph Paine Benedict (1874-1941) was an American publisher, lecturer, and author, primarily known for his work in the field of human analysis and personality. He gained national recognition for his lectures and writings on understanding individual traits. Benedict frequently collaborated with his wife, Elsie Lincoln Benedict, a celebrated author, suffragist, and psychologist. Together, they co-authored "How to Analyze People on Sight: Through the Science of Human Analysis," first published in 1921. This influential book proposed a system for classifying individuals into five distinct human types based on their physical and psychological attributes, aiming to help readers understand themselves and others better. Their collaborative efforts significantly contributed to the popularization of personality studies in the early 20th century.
