Wilhelm Carl Grimm was a German author, folklorist, and philologist, born on February 24, 1786, in Hanau. He pursued legal studies at the University of Marburg, often alongside his older brother, Jacob. Their lives were closely intertwined, both personally and professionally. Despite enduring delicate health throughout his life, Wilhelm cultivated a love for literature and history. In 1814, he began working as a secretary at the royal library in Kassel, where Jacob later joined him.

Wilhelm is most famously known for his extensive collaboration with Jacob on "Grimms' Fairy Tales," a seminal collection of German oral traditions. He took a significant role in editing the various editions, shaping them for a younger audience. His jovial nature and storytelling abilities complemented Jacob's more comprehensive research.
